Privacy Policy
Effective 19 October 2026
This policy explains what information the Campaign to Elect Michelle Kubo to WPUSD School Board collects through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We have tried to write it plainly rather than in legal shorthand.
Who we are
This website is published by the Campaign to Elect Michelle Kubo to WPUSD School Board, FPPC ID 1494655, a candidate-controlled committee registered in California. Where this policy says "we" or "us", it means that committee.
What we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us through the sign-up form on this site: your name, your email address, and — if you provide them — your phone number, your city, state and ZIP code, the ways you have indicated you would like to help, any message you write, and whether you ticked the box consenting to text messages.
What the server records
Like almost every website, our server keeps a short technical record of requests, including the network address a submission came from and the time it arrived. We use this only to keep the form working and to limit automated abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
What this site does not do
This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no advertising trackers and no social media pixels. Its fonts are served from our own server rather than a third party, so simply reading this site does not report your visit to anyone else.
How we use your information
We use it to contact you about the campaign — updates, events, volunteering and requests for support — to respond to messages you send us, and to organise volunteers. If you gave us a phone number and consented to text messages, we may text you. If you did not consent, we will not.
Text messaging
Text messages are sent on our behalf by a third-party messaging provider. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Opting out of text messages does not remove you from email or other contact; tell us if you would like that too.
Text message consent data
We will not share text messaging originator opt-in data and consent, provided that the foregoing does not apply to sharing (1) with vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf (and who will not use such information for their own purposes); (2) if we believe disclosure is required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation or to comply with law enforcement or legal process; and (3) if the user consents to our sharing of such information.
How we share information generally
We do not sell your information. We share it only with vendors and consultants who need it to do work for us and who may not use it for their own purposes; where we believe we are required to by law, regulation, or legal process; and where you have asked us to.
Donations
Donations are processed by a third-party payment provider, currently Zeffy, on their own site under their own privacy policy. We never see or store your card details. Please note that California campaign finance law requires committees to report certain donor information — including name, address, occupation and employer above set thresholds — and those reports become public records. That requirement comes from state law, not from this policy, and we cannot waive it.
How long we keep it
We keep sign-up information for as long as the campaign is active, and afterwards for as long as California campaign record-keeping rules require. You can ask us to delete information we are not required to keep.
Your choices
You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. You can ask us to stop emailing you, to correct what we hold about you, or to delete it, by contacting us through the form on this site. We will do our best to respond promptly.
Children
This site is aimed at voters and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
This site is served over an encrypted connection and sign-up information is sent to the campaign by email and kept on the server. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we limit who can reach this information and we do not store payment details at all.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes to how we handle text message consent will not be applied retroactively to consent already given.
Contact us
For any question about this policy, or to ask us to change or delete your information, please use the sign-up form on this site and tell us what you need in the message box. It reaches the campaign directly.
